A chemical peel uses a solution applied to the skin to exfoliate and resurface the top layers, revealing
fresher, smoother skin underneath. Chemical peels target uneven skin tone, fine lines, acne,
hyperpigmentation, and texture. Peeling and flaking after your treatment is normal and is a sign the
treatment is working. Results improve with a series of treatments.
This helps us customize your treatment and ensure the best and safest results for your skin.
• Active cold sore or fever blister.
• Sunburn or recent sun damage.
• Open cuts, wounds, or active skin infection on the face.
• Active rosacea flare up.
• Pregnancy.
• Accutane use in the last 12 months.
• Recent facial surgery.
• Known allergy to aspirin or salicylic acid.
Not everyone peels visibly after a chemical peel and that does not mean the treatment did not work. Some
skin types experience more of a micro-exfoliation rather than visible flaking. Results are still happening
beneath the surface regardless of how much visible peeling occurs.
2 Weeks Before — Don't:
• No retinol, retin-a, tretinoin, or retinoids of any kind on the face, neck, or chest.
• No waxing, threading, laser, IPL, or any other hair removal or resurfacing treatments on the face.
• No electrolysis treatments.
• No tanning beds or excessive sun exposure. Come in with the least amount of sun exposure possible
for best results.
1 Week Before — Don't:
• No exfoliating acids including AHA, BHA, or glycolic acid on the face.
• No vitamin C serums or other active ingredients on the face.
• No dermaplaning or any other exfoliating facial treatment.
48 Hours Before — Don't:
• No shaving the face.
• No waxing or threading of any kind on the face.
Day Of Your Appointment — Do:
• Arrive with a clean, makeup-free face.
• Let your technician know about any new medications, supplements, or skin changes since your last
visit.
• Drink plenty of water and arrive well hydrated — hydrated skin responds better to chemical peels.
• Arrive 5–10 minutes early.
Day Of Your Appointment — Don't:
• No active skincare products, serums, or treatments on the face the morning of your appointment.
What to expect:
Your skin may appear red, tight, and sensitive immediately after your peel. This is normal. Peeling and
flaking typically begins 2–3 days after your treatment and can last up to 7 days depending on the depth of
your peel. Do not panic — this is the treatment working. Your skin will look its best once the peeling process
is complete.
Do:
• Keep your skin moisturized. Dry, tight skin is normal after a peel and moisturizing will help with comfort and healing.
• Apply SPF every single day without exception — your skin is extremely vulnerable to sun damage after
a chemical peel. Use SPF 30 or higher.
• Keep your skincare routine very simple for at least 7 days. Gentle cleanser, moisturizer, and SPF only.
• Let your skin peel naturally. The peeling process is part of the treatment.
• Stay hydrated and drink plenty of water.
• Keep your follow-up appointment if one was scheduled.
• Contact us immediately if you experience severe burning, blistering, or any reaction that feels abnormal.
Don't:
• Do not pick, peel, pull, or scratch any flaking skin — this can cause scarring, hyperpigmentation, and infection. Let it come off naturally.
• No retinol, retinoids, exfoliating acids, AHA, BHA, vitamin C, or any active ingredients for at least 7–10 days after your peel.
• No direct sun exposure for at least 7 days. If you must be outside, apply SPF 30 or higher and wear a hat. Sun exposure after a peel can cause permanent hyperpigmentation.
• No heavy workouts, saunas, steam rooms, or hot showers for at least 48 hours — heat increases inflammation and can affect your results.
• No makeup for at least 24 hours after your peel. When you resume, use clean brushes and non-comedogenic products only.
• No waxing, threading, dermaplaning, laser, or any other resurfacing treatment for at least 2 weeks after your peel.
